The Christian life is a great adventure—filled with fun and mystery. It’s our desire that your first visit to Highland be filled with more fun than mystery. Here are answers to some of the questions you may have.
You meet where?
We are One Church with Two Locations.
We meet at The Pillar (11:00am) in Downtown Asheville
and at The Grey Eagle (10:00am) in West Asheville
The Pillar is located @ 46 Haywood St
(the old ballroom of the Haywood Park Hotel).
The Grey Eagle is located @ 185 Clingman Avenue
(the corner of Clingman Ave & Haywood Rd).
Do I need to dress up?
Only if you want to. Most people dress casually at Highland and everyone dresses comfortably, so wear what you like.
Where can I park?
The Pillar – The upper level parking deck of Haywood Park Hotel (entrance off of Page Street) is free Sunday morning and Sunday nights for Highland attenders, and is a great place for moms with loads of children, those with walkers, and those in wheelchairs. Otis, Battery Park, Page, Haywood, O’Henry, and Wall St. feature FREE on-street parking on Sundays. All metered parking is free on Sunday (except private pay lots).
The Grey Eagle – All metered parking is free on Sunday (except private pay lots).
Where do I go once I get to the Pillar?
Enter the building in between Nirvana Hair Studio and The Chocolate Fetish OR from the Haywood Park Hotel parking lot.
Are children welcome in the service?
Absolutely! At the 11:00am services, we have a Kid’s Pack at the Information Center for every child that contains cool stuff that lets them engage during the service (led by our Children’s Director). We might inspire your kids to ask some important questions, so know that we don’t mind all the whispering voices of parents and children—it’s teachable moments you don’t want to miss! We do provide a safe & fun nursery for the tiny tots who are 4 and under.
What happens during the church service?
Each week is different, but some common elements include the following:
- Live music by a great band. You can sing along or simply listen.
- Creative elements such as dance, video or drama.
- An offering for those who want to support our mission & vision.
- Communion for anyone who wishes to take part.
- A message that is practical, relevant and Biblical.
- You won’t be singled out! You can participate or not, it’s all up to you.
How long does the service last?
The service is usually between 85-90 minutes long.
Anything else I should know?
We serve refreshments before and during each of our services. So come early and enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and some snacks.
