The Christian life is a great adventure—filled with fun and mystery. It’s our desire that your first visit to Highland be filled with more fun than mystery. Here are answers to some of the questions you may have.
You meet where?
We are One Church with Two Locations.
We meet at The Orange Peel (9:00 & 11:00am) in Downtown Asheville
and at The Grey Eagle (10:00am) in West Asheville
The Orange Peel is located @ 101 Biltmore Avenue
(the corner of Biltmore Ave & Lexington Ave).
The Grey Eagle is located @ 185 Clingman Avenue
(the corner of Clingman Ave & Haywood Rd).
Do I need to dress up?
Only if you want to. Most people dress casually at Highland and everyone dresses comfortably, so wear what you like.
Where can I park?
All metered parking is free on Sunday (except private pay lots). Along Biltmore and Lexington Avenues there is close parking on the street and at friendly businesses lots (that are closed on Sunday).
Where do I go once I get to the Orange Peel?
Our gathering is inside right through the main door facing Biltmore Avenue. You’ll see our signs and the friendly people with smiles at the door welcoming everyone!
Are children welcome in the service?
Absolutely! At the 9:00am & 11:00am services, we have a Kid’s Pack at the Information Center for every child that contains cool stuff that lets them engage during the service (led by our Children’s Director). We might inspire your kids to ask some important questions, so know that we don’t mind all the whispering voices of parents and children—it’s teachable moments you don’t want to miss! We do provide a safe & fun nursery for the tiny tots who are 4 and under. When you register your child in the nursery you will receive a number which we can notify you (by the screens in the main auditorium) if your child has a need, so you can sit back and enjoy the service!
What happens during the church service?
Each week is different, but some common elements include the following:
- Live music by a great band. You can sing along or simply listen.
- Creative elements such as dance, video or drama.
- An offering for those who want to support our mission & vision.
- Communion for anyone who wishes to take part.
- A message that is practical, relevant and Biblical.
- You won’t be singled out! You can participate or not, it’s all up to you.
How long does the service last?
The service is usually between 85-90 minutes long.
Anything else I should know?
We serve refreshments before and during each of our services. So come early and enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and some snacks.
