Highland, in structure, is basically a church with two wings: the large gathering on Sundays and Gel Groups meeting throughout the week. The majority of all ministry (which means ‘service’) is carried out through our Gel Groups. Our gel groups have been organized into 4 ministry teams: the Light, Life, Love, and Truth teams. Each team ‘owns’ a Sunday to help carry out the areas of serving–hospitality, nursery, greeting, set up, tear down, etc.
But serving goes beyond Sunday. Each team also participates once a month in serving locally in our community in already existing service organizations in Asheville–organizations that need volunteers. Each team also participates in taking a step in giving locally and globally (Niger, China, India, and Nicaragua) above what they normally set aside to give to Highland.
